Last year I made a dress using this pattern. It’s a simple jet great pattern, so a second dress had to be made.
I adopted this lovely piece of fabric during the swap at the blogmeet in January. -I really hope the previous owner likes the result.- I’ts a really pretty fabric. Since I’m pretty pale I doubted to dye it with tea. But I dyed a sample, and it didn’t look as pretty as I thought it would be. I’m super happy I took a sample. I’m pretty impulsive. When I dye fabric my mind does this ” Should I take a sample? Nah, it will turn out great”. Luckely I didn’t listen this time. Since the linen fabric is pretty sheer I lined it with super soft white cotton. It feels like wearing my pj’s all day long! Who wouldn’t want that? I bought the lining at Stoffenverkoop in Kapellen.
I used the Elisabeth Gathered waist dress pattern from the Burdastyle book ‘Sewing Vintage Modern‘. But you can also download a similar pattern from their website or you can find the pattern in Burda magazine 02/2011. If you don’t own it, maybe you can get it at your local library or ask your sewing friends.
Since the skirt is a gathered one I can’t say much about that. But I can tell something about the top. It’s a tad bit to big for me. I added the pattern for next time. I cut off one centimeter from the center back and front. That should do the trick. For this dress I’ll be taking in the side seams. And yes that means unpicked the zip. Everybody’s favorite, ughr
I used the pattern form the the book and in there the dress has a square and very high neckline. So I lowered the neckline a few centimeters and turned the square neck into a round one.
As you all know I’m not a fan of center back zips. So as usual I putted the zip in the side seam.
If I have enough fabric I added in-seam pockets, but sometimes it just isn’t ment to be. I was scared that the skirt would be to narrow if I added them.
This is one of these dresses that I would wear to bed if I could. It’s super comfy and pretty! Who wouldn’t want to wear something like that 24/7? But there is one problem, while wearing the dress for the first time a pomegranate and my dress decided to get a little to personal. Now my dress has a massive stain! It’s so typically me! But my mom took the dress home and hopefully she can get it out. I really hope it will work out. Go-go-go mummy power!
